This poem was written for our Dec. 19th writing assignment for the writing group my friends and I "re-started". I assignment was:take the quote and run with it- make a poem, a short story- something that you're inspired to create from the quote:
"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both..."
Here's what I wrote.
"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
and sorry I could not travel both..."
One lead the way of light of the day
The other the beauty of night
Yet, alas, two such dichotomies
can not at once be the same
So we're forced to choose
One or two
Or option three
There be stuck in one spot not deciding
None give rise to knowing the others
We can only stay or go
Each course has its lessons as a way to know
Each giving more choices still
Each has dark and light
Hide in one
Or shine in the other
But not be stuck in one spot deciding
So whichever way you choose, God speed to you
I'll not be found here, lollygagging
I'm on my path, right or wrong,
Trying to enjoy the way
