You enter the hatchery and come immediately face to face with... something very bright!
"Voreth the Golden keeps watch here," the bright face says. It backs off a few feet to get a better look at you, allowing you to get a better look at it too. The bright Golden Dragon looks you over and continues, "Be careful of where you step here in the hatchery, and I'll let you stay. But I'll be watching you so don't even THINK of trying to take any of the eggs."
You nod, not sure of what else to do. Voreth smiles at you.
"Now that that's settled. Please, come in! The hatchery isn't very large yet, which is alright since we don't have many eggs yet either, but we're working on both! Would you like to see the eggs we do have?"
You look around the dimily lit room and think that it could stand to have one of the twins move in to light the place up. Strangely, it's warmer than the library, but you don't see Flame or any others of the like anywhere in the room. You mention this as Voreth leads you over to a corner of the room.
"Eggs require a lot of warmth, you know," Voreth replies, "and since there aren't enough of us around to take care of things AND sits on the eggs, the Keeper arranged for a heat vent from a volcano to be put in. Oh don't worry, no lava will get in here, it's too far away."
Before you can reply Voreth leans over and egg and gently begins to turn it.
"Beautiful, aren't they?" You look around and notice a second egg only a few feet away, barely visible in the low light.
"That one was the first one. I brought it with me from Dracona Eclectica. I'm a guardian, you see, and when we heard of this Hall and that it had no guardians I decided to come be one. On my way I noticed an egg in the egg agency at Dracona Eclectica which hadn't hatched yet, though all the others already had. The agency was begining to prepare for the new batch of orphaned eggs and wasn't sure what to do with this one. I said I was heading over here and I'd be happy to take it with me. As it turned out, the Hall didn't have a hatchery! AND another guardian had shown up before me. I was about to leave, with the egg, but the Keeper said that she'd never turn away a dragon. So instead she began building this hatchery, on the condition that I stay to guard it and the eggs, and later hatchlings. As you can see, I agreed. This yellow egg here was brought in from Dragon Guard to help get the hatchery started. Now we all are waiting for the two eggs to hatch. No one knows what they are going to be, not even the agencies they came from!"
"If you're interested, the large bound book that holds all of our adoption certificates is in the library."
"Thanks for stopping in. If I knew when the eggs were going to hatch, I'd let you know when to come back and see them, but...," Voreth shrugs as best a dragon can.
