No One Noticed

Today (Saturday) I felt the need to be pretty. So I dressed up some. Not too fancy, but more than normal nice. I had pulled my hair up haphazardly to get it out of the way, and it looked pretty good in that natural mess kind of way. I wore a black skirt with little grey flowers, that goes just below my knees - cause my lower legs have always looked good. And a flattering black button down V-neck collar top with sleeves only long enough to cover the shoulders but none of the arms. No jewelry, because I decided I wanted the entire natural look.

When I looked in the mirror at myself sideways, and pinched the shirt, I could really see the weight I've lost. I look good. (Not that I didn't before, but I look better now without the stick out tummy that "balanced" my butt.) Plus, my I-wear-them-daily pants are no longer tightly snug around my thighs, but comfortable. All good. :)

But... no one said anything. No "you look nice", or "nice outfit", or anything. Not one word or indication from anyone.

I know I was pretty. I brought my camera so that I could get someone to take a picture of me so I could put it up. But, didn't happen. I guess I was the only one that cared.

It's not that I need people to tell me I'm pretty. Nor that I want to hear it all the time (I don't, makes me self-conscious). People have said it plenty in the past, and do say it enough, or have done things indicating I'm beautiful, for me to know I'm considered pretty. But for one day I actually wanted to be, and tried. And that was the day it seems I wasn't to anyone... except myself.

Radio!

MOViN 92.5 is a great radio station I found while out in Seattle. And you can listen to it online!

Though the online version is slightly less awesome, 'cause they thrown in special online commercials ever so often. Also, fair warning, it's a new station. Which means they only have about 6 different commercials/sponsors right now, and so the commercials get super repetitively really fast. But Doug FM out here started out like that last year, and it's got plenty of varying commercials now. I'm sure MOViN will gain more commercial clients soon.

My Dad Is Cool

My Dad came over last night to hang out since we haven't seen each other in almost a month! He paid for dinner (I love visiting with my parents ;) ) and then he asked to see pictures from my trip. The only person to do so. But not only that, he sat and looked through the several hundred I took! He seemed interested too, and asked questions.

I love my Dad, I have for a long time. But sometimes it seems we don't have much to share. Usually when we visit it's going out to eat, catching up with each other's lives, maybe him explaining the latest about Honda or the automotive industry at large, or we talk about the step family, and then we go home. But last night I realized one important thing Dad and I have that Mom and I never did. Dad enjoys nature. I remember him once saying to me on a trip years ago that he enjoyed - or that it was nice - to have someone that when he came across a beautiful view (that appears while driving) who would appreciate it with him. And it is nice.

Oh, side note: I just remembered another thing Dad and I share. Psychology. He introduced me to it, and I love it.
