  • As I Live and Learn

I've been collecting my writings from years gone by as I find them. Each time I move - now 5 times in the last 3 years - I find more scraps, loose sheets, etc. with my thoughts from various times in my life. I've decided to copy as many of them as I can here to try and keep from losing them again, and to share with the world. Please feel free to comment as thoughts occur to you. Either send them to trekker9er@yahoo.com or use the comment links here. Thanks, and Enjoy!

    My Life, Hm

Usually my Friends/Family score is higher. There are several reasons it's where it is at this point in my life, thought it is higher than last year and the year before. I recognized a year and a half ago one of my biggest problems at the time, and since then have actively made steps towards more and stronger friendships, to fill the many holes in the Friends/Family part of my life. Those steps have been paying off, but I still have progress to make to get back to where I normally am, because trust is a major factor in my friendships, and trust takes time.

Your Spirit score is very high, much higher than the average. If you wouldn't mind, please take a little time to explain how you manage to succeed so well at this aspect of your life. Your words may be read by someone else who scored very low. Take a moment to give them some useful advice. Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

I suppose the two keys to success with your own spirit is:

    1) To live true to yourself. Don't let others tell you different if you feel deeply about something. Try to be everything you want yourself or others to be, to show them by example how they could be. And if you fail to live up to your own standards, forgive yourself once and work to make sure you do not fail again.

    2) To search for your faith, what you believe or believe in, whether or not you ever find it. Understand religion and spirituality are different. You may never find the religion that is right for you, but you can find your own spirituality. You may not find all the answers you want, you may only learn half of what you want to know. But so long as you keep in mind what you learn that is right for you, you will have some measure of peace that is more than before. And remember not to trap yourself in any religion or on any spiritual path. As you discover more beliefs and learn about yourself, you may find what you originally thought was right for you has changed. And once you start to find what is right for you, do it, as often as you think about it.

    Today's Quote

"Sometimes it pays to be a peasant."

-Duane, in response to Ray's explanation of why Ghengis Kahn killed all nobles (because he learned from hard experience that they were the ones who would lead rebellions).
