Finally saw the ISS last night! A very bright steady (not twinkling) “star” moving in an smooth curve but not too fast (like a shooting star would). It may have been brighter than Venus! Not sure.
Amber saw it too, as she was still awake when it was flying by. I tried to catch it in the telescope several times, got it once early on, but it was moving too fast to see any details, just a big bright blob. It was only up for 3 min, but that was enough!
Now that I’ve seen it, I think I’ve seen it before without knowing. I have two distinct memories in the last 7 or so years of something big and bright moving in the sky I was trying to figure out if it was a meteor, and each time I checked online the next day but there was no reports of one over Michigan. I chalked each one it up to a far away med-flight helicopter at a precise angle to how I a driving as I had no other explanation. ISS!
