Why I Gave My Vote to My Daughter

I wanted to share the rainbow picture, but then saw this one. Apparently the story is that the little boy saw Obama’s hair looked like his and wanted to know if it felt like his too.

You may think it’s not “right” to want the qualified and experienced candidate that is also female to win the election simply because she’s female. But I have a 5 year old daughter who, during this election’s primaries, learned there has never been a female president, and was surprised and disappointed.

This is the epitome of the erasure of “You Can’t Be What You Can’t See” for countless children. What a beautiful thing, to have captured an entire concept in a photograph. This is very emotional.

If I recall, the boy wanted to know if the President’s hair felt the same as his hair.
