What do you remember about your kindergarten days?

A lot actually. I went to a private school, and the kindergarten was in a remodeled old house. It was blue. My teacher had us call her by her first name.

Up in the loft a friend and I were making a potion one time and needed human hair, so I cut my bangs off. I haven’t worn bangs since.

When we had nap time we pulled out our mats and laid down on them. We were allowed to put our mats together and whisper if we didn’t want to sleep, but we couldn’t get up.

I remember being in the bathroom and the boys teaching one of my female friends and I how to pee standing up because somehow it came out that girls didn’t know how to do so and they thought that was awful! Been able to ever since ;)

There was a large play yard between the house and the other school buildings, with a swing set, rubber tire play mountain, and a tree house. We did a play, I think for our parents, from that tree house.

Also, in winter, two of my male friends and I tested if the licking a frozen pole would get your tongue stuck to it. David and I both licked the pole no problem. Our friend however got stuck so bad they called the fire department, and he still lost a good chunk of tongue skin.

I remember my best male friend David and I saw the high schoolers would go behind the main building and kiss before going home. So every day when our parents came we’d run back there and kiss. We just thought that’s what boys and girls were supposed to do when they were friends.

There was one older kid who was… different let’s say. Wore all black. Didn’t talk much. One day I watched him get a loose tire from the play yard, go out to the exact middle of the street that was in front of the school, put the tire down and sit on it and read a comic book. When a car came down the road, he wouldn’t even flinch until the car stopped. Then he’d close his comic, get up, look at the driver, bend over and pick up the tire, slowly walk to the side of the road, watch the car as it drove by, then he’d go back out and sit back down on the tire!

Oh, and I remember the tornado. Well, I remember being in the basement for 3 hours after the warning siren went off, and the principal finally going up to check and see if it was safe to come out.
