Spring?

I’ve been looking forward to Spring this year. First time that I can remember that I’ve actually wanted Winter to end. Not that I really do, but what I want is to be able to take Amber outside – easy and for a length of time! She’s intrigued by cars driving by, I want her to be able to be out and watch them. And I want to show her so much. It was nice last Fall talking a walk each day with her. Now she’s old enough to be interested in what’s out there besides just Mama’s voice narrating it all! It’ll be fun getting to take her outside, in warmth, with light after we’re home from work/daycare. So looking forward to it!!

We got a preview day last week. Amber was too sick for me to comfortably put her in daycare, especially with all three main teachers in her class out that day, and half her class out sick too! At that time she just needed more TLC and attention than I thought she’d be able get at daycare. It happened to be the same day that we broke 50 degrees and pushed up near 60. I front-packed her and went out to rake the sticks and leaves I didn’t manage to get to before the first snow, trying to get them up before growing gets going so the grass has a shot at growing in last year’s bare spots. Anyway, she was really quiet the whole time. Like she is when she’s around new people. I couldn’t see her face, but after a while she carefully reached out for a bush branch while we were close to it. She did that a couple times. Cool!

And I’ve realized, the outside is literally a whole new world for her. I’m excited to be able to show it to her!
