2010 End of Year Letter

Dear Family and Friends,

Last Christmas Eve the pregnancy test turned positive. Merry Christmas! It was a great gift!

The first ultrasound showed two beating hearts and two tiny baby forms. 5½ weeks later the second showed only one still growing. But that one turned into a beautiful strong and healthy baby girl. Pregnancy after that was wonderful, I quite enjoyed it, even with its minor trials!

Amber Amanda German was born September 5th, 2010, 3:06 am at Oakwood Annapolis hospital in Wayne, MI. 7 lbs, 8oz. 20 inches long. 10 fingers, 10 toes, and a full head of black hair. Mom was my birthing coach. Michael was in the waiting room.

She’s now a happy, wonderful 3½ month old! At 3 she was 24 3/4 inches and a little over 12½ pounds. I love her dearly. She’s able to sit with help, “talks” with me, and loves watching people as well as lights. Recently she’s started singing and grasping for objects, and she can reliably get things that are in her hands where she wants them to go – her mouth! Pictures can be seen on my website’s gallery at www.JennifersUniverse.com/gallery/ in the album named Amber. In the Spring as the world woke up, so did the bats in my attic. Thankfully it wasn’t hard for the company I hired to get them out and seal things up. Getting the insurance payment to them was.

May saw my 10 year college reunion-nice time! June and July each had a wonderful baby shower.

Then, after two years of trying to sell, and three offers this year (the first two fell through), I was finally able to short sell the condo in August! Only days before it was to be foreclosed on, for the second time. Suffice to say that constantly checking in, lots of paperwork, and frequently calling around until I found any person that might be able to help paid off in spades.

Amber wasn’t the only baby this year. Cousins on both sides had one before her and after: Tyler Warren in July and Oreese Collins the 4th in October. Yay for family!

Being a single mother proved hard on the heart when I had to return to work at the start of November. I forgot how much I enjoy my job, but once I was back full time, being away from Amber hurt so much. I’m trying to find the balance between work and motherhood. Being sick 3 times didn’t help. I try to make what I can of the time I get with her. Sure lots of things slide and some don’t get done altogether. But the family and friends I have around make all the basics and more possible. Mom’s even visited at crucial times to help. Big Thanks to everyone who’s come!

A couple things are coming up for Amber. She’s going to be Baby Jesus in the church pageant Christmas Eve, and she’s going to be baptized on January 2nd, 2011. Me? I’m happy every time she smiles at me or laughs for me. Sleep eludes, yet Life is good.

We hope everyone has a great year!
