Thoughts?

My question to you readers is at the bottom. Advise please!

So I have a house to decorate for Halloween this year, YAY! :D

I've been searching around trying to decide what I want to do. I've decided I don't want to go a grave yard. I would love to have an eye in the upstairs window that blinks and looks around (it's a light of some sort, I haven't been able to track it down yet so I can buy it :( ).

I found a suggestion for neat home made decorations that look like floating lights in your yard! Totally gonna try to do that. But I really should try to put together a theme. I'm thinking wither witches (could put out cauldrons and stuff) or ghosts - the friendly kind. I'm looking for kid friendly, mildly scary at most!

I'd like some signs too, a direction post sign to be specific. A gothic or old fashioned lamp post would be awesome too (but how much?) But that led me to street signs, and a site that will custom make them in various colors! So now I want to get one in black that says "Haunted Way".

My questions are:
1) Should I get a black street sign for Halloween and put it up next to my street's street sign? Or do I just run the risk of it getting stolen and being out $27?
2) If I do get one, what should it say? Haunted Way was just the best I could come up with, but I'm not sure how great it is.

how about having dangling bodies from the ceiling that sway? or is that too much work? :p

I thought I would weigh in my 2 cents on the subject so feel free to take it for what it is worth :)

As for the street sign I think Haunted way is actually kinda cute for a sign. The only thing I would suggest is putting it somewhere on your actual property only because I am not sure how things are out your way but I know aroud here if you put something like that up where your actual street sign is not only do you take the risk that someone might think it would look nicer at their house and gank it but depending on city ordinances and the like you run the risk the city itself would remove it since it isn't an "official" street sign.

In general it is a nice idea though. And I think a witch theme would look nice. I hope you post pics to showcase for the rest of us poor shlubs not close enough to you to check it out to see what you ended up going with.

I know for my house we are going for a "nut house" theme. Seems to fit with the way our year has been this year :)

Oh yeah and since I didn't get the chance to say it before, Grats on the homeowner thing. I really liked the pics of the new place.

ps. Another suggestion for a sign that was just thrown my way specially if you plan to be around for trick or treat visitors would be "trick or treat lane"

Thanks for the input! And thanks for the grats :) As with many things, I have the want and hope to get pictures and other stuff up. We'll see if it actually happens, but I will definably take pictures!

If I put up a Halloween street sign next month, do you think it'd get stolen?

it depends on the neighborhood you live in now I think. if it's right by your house maybe not. but if you're at the end of a street where there's more traffic, then possibly...sorry I'm no help. but I'm also paranoid. haha

Try a cheap one this year, and see how it goes. :)
