{Admiral Star, 11/28/02}: This person should also sim on all the different sims in the division (going from one to another, not all at once) to help foster better posting/simming.
Recruitment rules:
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give out IDF or your website's URL in the first email. This can be considered spam, and web service providers may shut down your site as a result.
Once a person responds back positively saying they want more info or just that they're interested you can direct them to the site, they've asked for it (even if in a roundabout way).

Kind of an unwritten rule in the simming community at large: _NEVER_ ask someone who's already simming to join another sim. That'll piss off other people (CO's, admirals, etc) quicker than anything.
Exception: If an experienced XO/AXO is needed. And then you should speak with that person's CO first. It's just a good rule to live by to keep yourself and IDF out of trouble.
If someone on another sim e-mails you directly on their own stating they want to join, then they can. But do not try to persuade them to quit their sim and join yours. And if you are going to recruit, do not recruit out of other active sims/fleets.
If someone asks you to join, that's okay. But you are _never_ to ask them to join in that situation (players are already known to you as members on a sim, any sim, whether or not it's in IDF). IDF has gotten several hate emails over the course of its existence from other fleets when someone in IDF invites a member or two of theirs to join. It can be a very big deal.
