Lt. J.G. Maxwell

Lt. J.G. Maxwell

The lights faded from Tovaal's eyes as the main Transporter Room of the USS Griffin went from a pool of swimmy psychedelic pools of color into something a little more normal. The Griffin's new Conn Officer stepped down from the pad with his two traveling bags and smiled at Chief Windsor.

"Hello, my name is Lt.J.G. Maxwell. I am the new Conn Officer."

Raised eyebrow as she reviewed his orders. "Maxwell? Odd name for a Vulcan."

"My father's doing. Since he didn't get to name his first-born child, he insisted I carry the family name at least."

She shook her head, handing his orders back. "Must be an interesting man."

Tovaal chuckled slightly at that. "The whole family is... I'm the normal one."

For some reason, she didn't doubt it.

In short order, she had Ensign Taylor brought down, and he escorted Tovaal to his quarters. He had requested smaller ones than those afforded to his rank, arguing to Admiral Jellico that Officer's quarters were more space than he needed. Jellico had grinned back and told Tovaal to try it before he passed judgment; he might like it.

They were bigger than the quarters he'd had on the Kitty Hawk, and those were more than spacious. As he looked around, Tovaal did find that he liked it. Quite a bit as it turned out.

As he looked around, he spied Taylor trying really hard not to stare at him.

"Something the matter, Ensign?"

"Uh, er, no! No. Uh, you'll have to forgive me, sir; I don't see many smiling Vulcans."

"It's all right. It isn't as though we are a common occurrence."

"I'll say. Well, when you're settled in, I believe the Captain's available to meet you. You might even get to jump right into your first mission."

"Why wait then? It isn't like I won't have time later to unpack my meager possessions. Lead on."

Taylor nodded. "Yes sir."

With Taylor in the lead, they made their way to the Captain's Ready Room.
