Starfleet Personnel File #120035

Tovaal Maxwell

Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade

Race: Half Vulcan, half Human

Gender: Male

Date of Birth: December 13, 2349

Place of Birth: Earth

Birth Parents: T’Ren (Mother, Vulcan), Dominic Maxwell (Father, Human)

Height: 6' 3"

Weight: 221 lbs
Family:
The Maxwells live in San Francisco, California. T’Ren teaches a class in Vulcan Languages and Culture, and Dominic is a construction and repair coordinator at Utopia Planetia Shipyard. Tovall has a younger sister, Shannon, who currently serves as the Tactical Officer onboard the USS Ticonderoga. T’Ren’s parents live on Vulcan, Dominic’s on Earth.

Pre-Academy Life:
Tovall’s parents were living on Vulcan when he was conceived. T’Ren could tell before he was born that he would not function well in Vulcan society, and so at her insistence, she and her husband moved to Earth, where Tovall was born. He developed more quickly than a Vulcan child would, and was more given to expressing his human emotions, even seeming to revel in them at times. He never actively disdained the teachings of logic that his mother attempted to instill in him, he simply had a harder time mastering them than a full-blooded Vulcan would. He expressed an early desire to join Starfleet, and worked as hard as he could to make it happen. His sister was initially opposed to the idea, as she had no great fascination for exploration the way her brother did. Her views eventually changed, and she followed Tovall into the Academy. Neither of her parents had been surprised in the least; she loved her brother more than anything in the galaxy, and would have followed him anywhere (even if her Vulcan control would never allow her to express it as openly as Tovall might).

Starfleet Academy:
Tovall originally went in with the intent of a career in the sciences. He realized in extremely short order, however, that he had a passion and a natural gift for flying. He immersed himself in the piloting program, and by the time he was set to graduate he was qualified on everything from short hop sub-light shuttles to Runabouts to Galaxy-Class starships. One of his classmates once quipped: “If it has nacelles, he can crash it!” Tovall is quick to point out, however, that he has never successfully crashed anything, with nacelles or otherwise.

Starfleet Career:
Tovall’s first assignment was as Helmsman aboard the USS North, an Ambassador-Class starship that made runs between Deep Space Nine, Bajor, and Earth. He remained there for three years, then was transferred to the USS Exeter, an Excelsior-Class exploration vessel that also patrolled the Romulan Neutral Zone. He transferred a year later to The USS Kitty Hawk, where he was reunited with his sister (she was the Kitty Hawk’s Tactical Officer). They served there until the Kitty Hawk was destroyed at the end of the Dominion War. After a short leave of absence, Shannon went to the Ticonderoga, and Tovall went to Deep Space Nine to await reassignment. While there, he unofficially attached himself to crew duty, flying Runabouts to and from Bajor.

Personality Profile:
Tovall is about as atypical as it gets for someone with Vulcan blood in his veins; he is always polite, and always has a ready smile or a kind word for those around him. He laughs easily and has little trouble making friends, though it has taken more than one person a little time to reconcile his human behavioral patterns with his decidedly Vulcan looks. The Captain of the Kitty Hawk actually had Tovall tested to see if he had Romulan blood in him as well. Tovall took it in stride; he takes pride in the fact that he is more than unique among either of his peoples. He is capable of displaying the customary stoicism of his Vulcan heritage, however, and does take his work seriously... just not too seriously.

Hobbies:
Painting, cooking, and 20th Century aircraft. He spends most of his holodeck time in the simulated cockpits of various fighters and commercial craft of Earth’s past.
