Family:
Robert Sable (2313) was the youngest of three children born to Johnathan and Jessica Ann (Haver) Sable, in New Berlin, Luna. He had two elder sisters, Jenifer and Alyssa Joan. Robert entered Starfleet Academy in 2329, majoring in engineering with a minor in science. Kaylen Troi (2323), born of Andrew and Toray (Sirtis) Troi, was Ian Andrew Troi's (father of Counselor Diana Troi) younger sister and only sibling. Her brother, Ian, attended the academy during roughly the same period as Robert, and the two became acquainted in classes. Robert and Kaylen happened to first meet while Kaylen was attending a Space Camp established in the late twentieth century, in Pleasant Valley, Utah. Both Robert and Ian worked as camp counselors for the youthful campers from 6-14 years of age during their summer semesters; Kaylen attended the camp through all her eligible years.

About ten years later Kaylen and Robert met again, though under different terms. Kaylen was in her second year at Starfleet Medical Academy and Robert an active duty officer. For much of their eventual courtship they had only long distance correspondence until they were married in 2346. Robert became the executive officer of the USS Hood the next year, and Kaylen graduated from Starfleet Medical Academy the year thereafter. Ryan Sable was born in 2349 on the christening of Robert's first ship, the USS Acari, the birth occurring at 07:37 and allowing the new born to attend the christening in the ship's sickbay with her mother, who would later become the Acari's Chief Medical Officer. Jessica, Ryan's paternal grandmother, would later smilingly call Ryan and the Acari, "soul mates."

Pre-Academy Life:
Ryan lived on the Acari for the first few years of her life. The Acari was a deep space exploration ship, thus the Acari was much of her limited world, being separated from Earth and extended family. Fortunately, having his own ship had made it far easier for her father to preserve at least his immediate family's close proximity to each other. During her youth, Ryan became friends with the only other children on the science ship, twin boys named Brian and Michael Hawk (born: 2346). Their mother and father were separated and the boys had moved several times between their parents until their father was KIA. Brian then remained on Earth with their grandparents and Michael with their mother. In 2352, the Acari was assigned to a relatively unexplored region of the Beta Quadrant, called Alpha Kuarase. During the tail end of their mission, the ship and all its occupants mysteriously disappeared with little trace. Ten years later, Robert, his daughter Ryan, and less than a fourth of the Acari's crew appeared in Federation space without explanation for their disappearance or return. Captain Sable and those that remained from his command underwent grueling investigation and months of counseling sessions. Starfleet was attempting to understand and recreate the odd disappearance of Captain Sable's ship, the last ten years they had experienced in some mysterious place, and how they had managed to return; but little progress was made, and a great deal of irritation created. Many of the crew's memories had been wiped or limited, and those that were still intact, remained tight-lipped, having claimed some vow of silence with the mystery people the Acari had encountered. Soon coming to the realization that the investigation was leading no where, Starfleet released the survivors, classifying their records and hoping to discover more, eventually. Captain Robert Sable was scheduled to regain command in 2364.

Starfleet Academy:
Ryan entered Starfleet Academy in 2364 at the age of 15. Her actual major was in engineering, and she gained only the minimal flight certification, focusing her time on academics and less on mastering flight skills she already possessed. Seeing his daughter off to begin her own life, Robert left the Federation and home to search for his missing wife (she had not returned with the remaining Acari crew). His departure stung Ryan for sometime; she felt left out of something quite important, but she remained where her father wished her. Captain Rustle Conyers, the former executive officer of the Acari, played a sort of father replacement, attending all the great events in her blooming Starfleet life, which she greatly appreciated. In her second year at the academy, Ryan joined the varsity swim, track, and soccer teams. She also became reacquainted with Brian Hawk (twin brother of Michael, who remained lost after the Acari's disappearance), during his senior year. Ryan graduated from the Academy in 2368 with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and honors.

Starfleet Career:
After graduation, Ryan's career seemed to take off at full speed. Her first assignment was with the USS Akagi as an engineering officer. She remained for only a few short months, transferring in 2369 to the USS Thunderchild and gaining promotion to Full Lieutenant the year after (2370). Ryan worked on the Thunderchild until 2372, when she transferred to the USS Enterprise, serving with Brian Hawk during the Borg incursion of 2373. She received her promotion to Lieutenant Commander in 2374 and in 2376, Ryan was transferred to the USS Prometheus (Prometheus class) by the request of Captain Rustle Conyers to be his executive officer. After the Romulan attempt to commandeer the Prometheus, Starfleet attempted to fully staff the ship (especially with security) as they continued testing. The Prometheus was due for commission in 2377, which Conyers left in Sable's acting command shortly beforehand for his promotion to Admiralty, however the ship met with some unexpected resistance. Only the tertiary hull remained after the demoralizing attack and was later incorporated in to the future USS Goldeneye. Ryan was subsequently court marshaled, as per standard Starfleet protocol following the loss of a ship, and her consideration for command in the immediate future postponed.

She is now serving on board the USS Griffin as the Chief Helms Officer.

Personality Profile:
Ryan Sable is extremely clever, able to learn quickly and adapt her attitude and solutions for almost any situation, having an uncanny ability to remain calm and "poker faced." She is a very capable officer, flexible, reliable and creative with her duties and skills, and carries quite the appearance of confidence and optimism. However most of her devotion to her duty and life is an diversion from dwelling on her personal history, and her confidence most likely stems from her determination not to be perceived as the failure she believes she is. For much of her Starfleet career, Ryan's inner happiness has been hampered by the belief that she is well below acceptable standards, and in her eyes, as she compares herself to others on unequal terms, she is. Ryan has yet to forgive herself completely for the losses of her family, home, and dearest friends, and does not believe that if faced with the same situation again, that she would be capable of changing the outcome for the better. Thus, she has plunged into her career, sense of duty, and friendships in an effort to forget what she has lost and ignore the shortcomings she believes she carries. Over the years under her own scorn she has developed a character of heavy self-discipline and responsibility, tending to remain sometimes overwhelmingly serious, efficient, and realistic in all her dealings. A few of her acquaintances believe her incapable of humor. However, Ryan has always been friendly and pleasant, and though she is not bubbly gregarious, she tends to attract people with her sincerity and caring. She is, sometimes to misfortune, very insightful when it comes to others' secret opinions about her, able to deduce either their acceptance or perhaps their apprehension. She understands the need for friends, yet she has also not let anyone too close to her heart in self-preservation. And though she is friendly, she is not to be considered overly sociable as on a few occasions she finds the time she has to herself more valuable, feeling overwhelmed by her desire to be needed or just the crowds. She is smart, carrying a strong common sense and a flexible ability to imitate which allows her to easily blend in with almost any crowd. But her ability to blend in has not compromised her honest integrity, and in that light she might stick out like a sore thumb when the flow of the crowd becomes contrary to Ryan's values. Ryan is moderately open with her honest opinions, this varying on situation and to whom the opinion is directed as she is very guarded with opinions that might hurt or cause others to think less of her. She clings to her high morals tightly for the measurement of her own character, guarding her actions closely. She is humble and respectful however to the beliefs and values of others and has very seldom shared or impressed her own morals unless asked. She is deeply dedicated and hopes in things she can't see, be it deities, or an event she desires to occur, yet she still cannot define. It is her dedication in duty and life, and her hopes that push Ryan forward everyday. Ryan practices a great respect for authority and those around her, remaining always obedient and well mannered. She is faithful, both in her beliefs and in her cares, being softly compassionate and very loyal.

Hobbies:
Ryan is a deep thinker and can be astoundingly insightful, maintaining time for deep meditation and pondering. She enjoys the time she garners for herself to sit in her darkened quarters and just study the stars or read. She is extremely talented and can be, when she allows herself to be, quite imaginative. She acts, sings and plays the piano, but has seldom shared her talents, feeling deeply inadequate. She enjoys using the holodeck as the medium in which to practice her musical abilities, having formed bands, and performed from plays to solos for thousands upon thousands of holodeck audiences and her own ears. She has always been involved in some physical activity or another, again using the holodeck as her medium of practice, however, she is more open to outside influence in this area, having invited a few of her fellow crew members to take part in sport matches.

Addendums:
Counselor Diana Troi, 2373: "Its obvious, Lieutenant Ryan Sable has been deeply scarred by the loss of Brian Hawk. For a while before the incident, the two seemed rather close. At times, I believe I sensed affection. She was troubled by nightmares after his death and unfortunately the dreams were severe enough to warrant medical intervention. She sleeps under sedatives now, though I'm hoping not for long. It is discouraging to see all the progress she has made since her return to the Federation seem to disappear so quickly ..."

Lieutenant Commander Ryan Sable, 2378: "I suppose I no longer can keep my vow of silence from the Federation; given our recent encounter with the AyaCeni they now know too much to ignore, and the account of a missing nine year history is in order. "I was almost four when the Acari was taken. The incident was by pure coincidence. An Ayati ship, the Arccession, had been ambushed on a diplomatic run between galaxies by the Bisra. Their engines had been crippled, and the cavitations snagged the Acari's warp bubble, much the same as the Griffin was recently snagged. They unknowingly 'towed' us into one of their many allied galaxies, far from the Milky Way before realizing our presence. They did attempt to help us return home immediately, but the Arccession and our ship were ambushed (yet again) by a minor faction called the Sitic; and even a third ambush took place, the Ky'racen in their turn destroying the Sitic ship and the Acari. The Arccession managed to rescue at least half the Acari crew before the rest were kidnapped by the Ky'racen for induction into their forces. A few managed to escape, but most (myself included) did not and were impressed into service. I was sent to be raised by a Ky'racen loyal family and they were kind enough, but by luck their colony was attacked by the Scralen (they being loyal to the Ayati). I was assimilated, but just as quickly released to the care of the Ayati to be returned to my parents. Those of the Acari crew that had been rescued had been placed in a colony on JaurSolus; decreed unfit to return to Federation space, as we had witnessed enough of their lives and technology to endanger their own fashion of a prime directive. We lived on JaurSolus in relative peace for a few months, but the war eventually forced us to join. I fought with the Scralen. And then without warning or even a mentioned reason, the Predi ordered our return to the Federation. Those who were unable, or believed they would be unable to keep silence were wiped of their memories, and the rest charged with a vow to uphold their prime directive. It was near the end of 2362 when we appeared to magically return here. And Starfleet wasted no time in beginning their investigations, but little success was made... My only regret, is that we ever had to leave..."
