Personal Traits:
Leeta has shoulder length black hair and a light olive skinned complexion. Leeta is distant at times but is open toward a few trusted people, most notably Margaret Pierce.

Leeta is slightly shorter than an average woman of her species. She has jet black hair that barely touches her shoulders when she wears it loosely. When on duty she typically dons a ponytail instead of wearing her hair loosely. The complexion of Leeta's skin is moderately olive. Leeta grew up not knowing about her own parents since she arrived at a local civilian orphanage less than a day after she was born. That fact alone has made her curious about other cultures of her planet as well as those of her society. Considering Leeta knows nothing about her parents or her ancestors Leeta has been left with somewhat of a mystery on her hands. Although she has wondered about her family's heritage while she was a child, she hasn't gotten very far in her search since she preferred to dream instead of investigate. She has grown to accept that she is an orphan for life and uses two facts that she already knows: her species, complexion, and name. She knows that she descended from human parents as that much is obvious. Given her knowledge of terran cultures/races she has approximated that her parents where possibly of middle eastern descent or from the area near what is today - the area known as pakistan/northern india. But that assumption is confounded when considering her name: Leeta Gill. Gill is used by multiple terran cultures - but the most relevant to her is that it is used by Hindus and Sihks which are both religions that were founded in India. Leeta knows that many families from northern India migrated to her home territory, Canada, in the 1970s through until World War Three began; Gill was a popular anglicized surname for many of those immigrants and their descendants who came to live in Canada as well as the United States, Britain, and other developed countries. Give those facts Leeta has guessed that her ancestors were native to a region in Pakistan or in Nothern India.

Leeta is generally friendly - after she can determine that a person is someone who is either respectable, talented, or has a similar sense of humor as she does. She does however *not* reveal her true feelings, secrets, and attitudes to just anyone - not even to her circle of friends at times; her closest confidant is Lieutenant Margaret Pierce who has know Leeta for over nine years and is someone who Leeta is comfortable enough to share everything with.

Personality:
Very introverted; tough exterior, but is very sensitive. Is very loyal and intuitive. She prefers to play by the rules, and she also shows a stronger bond toward the system (Starfleet) that her comrades. Her cool exterior gives the impression that she is aloof, and insensitive - but she is hypersensitive to cues given off by others that indicate criticism. She tries to be serious most of the time with other officers, but has a hidden humourous side with a degree of silliness.

Note: In the past Leeta has relied on close friends as well as her one-time finace for emotional support and bonding. Following graduation and the breakdown with her engagement to her fiance, Tim O'Connor, she grew detached up until her first assignment.

Leeta tries to be self-sufficient and rarely tries to show any perceived vulnerability to her comrades and acquiantences. One friend who she does devulge personal intimacy is Lieutenant Margaret Pierce, a pal from her academy days with whom she sends personal messages to on a monthly basis. Leeta did try to reunite with Tim about 13 months ago, but it did not seem to work out as Tim virtually disappeared days after visiting Leeta while she was on vacation on Risa. After learning of Tim's disappearance, Leeta had a fell into a clinical depression and was sent to the nearest starbase so she could receive treatment and was given a leave of absence to recover from her loss, despite her estrangement from Tim. Leeta was released five months later with a sufficient recovery and returned to duty shortly after. Leeta's relationships with her shipmates became rocky at first during the week she returned, but improved leading up to a conference a week later. The conference she attended was about Tim her fiance's disappearance, but alas, the board of inquiry had no information about his whereabouts. In fact, they could not find any leads at all, which led everyone to assume that Tim is possibly dead - but the investigation was inconclusive.

Hobbies:
Poetry (reading and writing)

Family Information:
Mother: -
Father: -
Orphan, no family. Margaret Pierce - noted as the sister she never had/best friend.

Leeta techincally has no known family - so she is legally an orphan. She has gained a 'secondary' family of sorts from the crew in her first assignment aboard the USS Ottawa. Her former CO, Capt. Kellye Blake was sort of a motherly figure while helped her keep her crew out of trouble due to a few misgivings within the crew and outside of it. The ship's head nurse, Lieutenant Margaret Pierce is like a sister to Leeta since she's known her for a long time and understands her more than most people. She identified with mostly the junior officers as she was one during that assignment; the only senior officers excluding the CO that she was friends with where the CCO, Lt. Cmdr. Johnstone and Lt. Sydney Dixon the ship's counselor who were like extended family for her. Crewman's apprentice Skip Watson's lovable and loyal personality made him the crew's 'pet' of sorts. Leeta is nostalgic about her assignment aboard the Ottawa and makes her no longer yearn for parents or relatives anymore as she already has several people who love and care for her as if she was part of their 'family.'

Personal History:
Leeta grew up in as an orphan and completed the standard schooling. She joined starfleet because she was eager to kickstart her career, and left Vancouver to start as soon as possible. A week before arriving in San Franciso a month before entering the academy she met Tim O'Connor, and they hit it off.

Academy:
In her first year she eagerly plunged into her studies. She roomed with Margaret Pierce, a nursing student and they became good friends after that. Leeta was always good at languages, so she studied communications as well as linguistics. Under Margaret's influence Leeta minored in nursing, which brought them closer together over the next few years. Besides working hard at her studies Leeta and Margaret went travelling whenever they could get vacation time, and their longest trip was to Mexico shortly before they began their third year studies. A few months into her third year her relationship with Tim grew and he proposed during late November. Leeta graduated the year after, along with Margaret and Tim. Before her first assignment however, Leeta's relationship with Tim soured and they fought eventually breaking up a week after graduation. Tim had wanted Leeta to postpone her career for a year or two, so she go with him to his first assignment. She refused as there was no way for her to go ahead with her career, as there was no need for another communications officer.

Previous Assignments:

-USS Ottawa-
Rank: Ensign
CO: Captain Kellye Blake
Former Position: Communications officer, Temporary Nurse
Promotions: Lieutenant, junior grade

Special note regarding assignment: Leeta Gill is a fine officer, and I am happy to have served with her. Despite the past incident last year due to a personal problem, Leeta Gill has handled her duties well and has demonstrated great skill and talent toward her abilities. During a temporary plague in 2376, Leeta was ready to take on additional nursing duties as the sick bay was in the need of extra aid in treating the crew and survivors of a shuttle accident which had occurred before the outbreak. In the six months Leeta has recovered from her personal problem and has returned to complete her duties with the same enthusiasm and excellence that I have expected from her since the early days when she arrived here, fresh out of the academy.
- Captain Kellye Blake, USS Ottawa.

Second note regarding this assignment: Having known Leeta Gill for several years, it is my opinion that she is an efficient officer. For most of her duties she has had no significant psychological problems, with the exception of this past year. Since her ex-fiance, Lieutenant, junior grade Tim O'Connor disappeared while on Risa, Leeta has been struggling emotionally. She experienced a bout of depression about thirteen and a half months ago after hearing about O'Connor's disappearance. Although, I've never personally met O'Connor, it is my general impression that despite their estrangement Leeta still loves him. Leeta was transfered to Starbase 12 for psychiatric observation thirteen months ago when she became suicidal. After five months Leeta was released and returned to the Ottawa. I have been conferring with Leeta since her return. She required a few weeks to readjust to the environment aboard the Ottawa before she was fit to return to her regular duties. Leeta's relationships following her treatment have been at an arm's length, except with Lieutenant Margaret Pierce. In the rest of her time aboard the Ottawa has been relatively successful as she has received support from Margaret, myself, and the rest of the crew.
- Lieutenant Sydney Dixon, Ship's Counselor, USS Ottawa.

Miscellaneous:
Over the years while still in high school Leeta began creating a time capsule to remember her neighbourhood. Leeta buried the time capsule just outside Stanley Park, over the sea wall, that she hopes will be uncovered around a couple centuries into the future. Her favourite beverage is tequila. She doesn't have a favourite vacation spot at the moment, she is open to traveling just about anywhere.
